We are looking for a Countryside Maintenance Officer to  join our team in Public Realm, someone who shares our values, commitment and motivation to make a difference for our districts.

As Countryside Maintenance Officer you will use your technical knowledge and operational skills to provide countryside site maintenance across Babergh and Mid Suffolk Districts. This will include maintaining and installing benches and information boards, fencing, and carrying out works to improve access, such as repairs to footpaths, bridges, and steps.

You will also work with others, including volunteers, to maintain countryside open spaces by undertaking tree works, coppice rotations to woodland, hedgerow maintenance, meadow management and other conservation works ensuring wildlife habitats are maintained.

The role will require you to work closely with the Public Realm Officer (Countryside) and Operations Manager along with Ecology and Biodiversity specialists, particularly when carrying out work to our County Wildlife Sites and Local Nature Reserves.

This is an exciting challenge and a great opportunity to help maintain and improve the public realm across the whole of Babergh and Mid Suffolk District.

You will need a full UK Driving Licence to be able to carry out the duties of this role.

We are proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy, and communities for our districts. Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK.

Working together across our Councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk – working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment, and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.

We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered.  Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
