Part time or job share opportunities considered.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are at the forefront of joint working and progressive partnership - two sovereign councils, each with a strong sense of identity but with a shared vision of the future. Our journey over the last five years has seen us integrate our workforces and become the first districts nationally to move to a joint headquarters in Ipswich, creating a public sector hub with Suffolk County Council and two clinical commissioning groups.

The councils are ambitious for the communities they serve, with a local population of approximately 200,000 in an area which has consistently been voted as among the best places to live in the country. Our priorities are supporting sustainable economic growth, building more affordable housing and helping our communities stay safe and become healthier.

This is a new role, which is intended to support the Corporate Manager and provide day-to-day and strategic support to the team.

You will lead two Senior Business Partners and their teams in undertaking a full range of financial activities including the preparation of annual revenue and capital budgets, financial monitoring and advice including project and business case support, completion of the annual statement of accounts.

This role will be responsible for leading the team to deliver the councils treasury, insurance and VAT functions as well as the full range of agreed reports to committee and senior leadership team within the required timeframes.

You will work closely with the Corporate Manager in providing organisational leadership for the development and maintenance of the strategies and systems that demonstrate strong financial stewardship and accountability across the councils.

You will be based at our modern, air-conditioned head office in Ipswich, with a range of facilities and excellent travel links. We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme. We also offer a range of training and development and will give you all the support you need for your career and wellbeing.

For an informal discussion please contact Melissa Evans, Corporate Manager – Finance and Commissioning and Procurement on (01473) 296320 / 07860 827076.

We are committed to agile and flexible working practices (subject to business need). We believe that work is something we do and not somewhere we go; we want our staff to feel enabled and empowered to fully embrace these opportunities.
