Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are at the forefront of joint working and progressive partnership - two sovereign councils, each with a strong sense of identity but with a shared vision of the future. Our journey over the last five years has seen us integrate our workforces and become the first districts nationally to move to a joint headquarters in Ipswich, creating a public sector hub with Suffolk County Council and two clinical commissioning groups.
The councils are ambitious for the communities they serve, with a local population of approximately 200,000 in an area which has consistently been voted as among the best places to live in the country. Our priorities are supporting sustainable economic growth, building more affordable housing and helping our communities stay safe and become healthier.
The role of Business Partner - Commercial, will be responsible for leading on the financial aspects of the councils ambitious commercial activities and major projects.
You will report to the Assistant Manager – Financial Accountant, and will be expected to proactively liaise with officers across the Councils on key projects, providing financial advice and challenge.
This role will be required to prepare cashflow projections, monitor spend against budgets, prepare budgets, prepare companies accounts including group accounts for the Councils. As well as feeding into the Councils capital and investment strategy including advising on the relevant impacts of the commercial activity on the Councils strategies.
You will be based at our modern, air-conditioned head office in Ipswich, with a range of facilities and excellent travel links. We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme. We also offer a range of training and development and will give you all the support you need, for your career and wellbeing.
We are committed to agile and flexible working practices (subject to business need). We believe that work is something we do and not somewhere we go; we want our staff to feel enabled and empowered to fully embrace these opportunities.
