We’re proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy and communities for our districts. Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK.

Working together across our Councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk – working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment, and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.

We are now looking for the right person to join our team in Housing Solutions, to support the Temporary Accommodations Team by providing a comprehensive co-ordination service of all placements moving into and out of accommodation services.

We will need you to ensure the effective collection of rental payments in temporary accommodation and to monitor the use of the Councils’ temporary accommodation units by managing the electronic records and completing appropriate documentation associated with the movement of households within temporary accommodation.

This work will include supporting residents to make an application for Housing Benefit within 24 hours of moving into temporary accommodation including those in B and B and making sure that residents maintain their service charge payments.

You will:

  • need to make regular visits to our temporary accommodation units so access to a car would be beneficial
  • have knowledge of homelessness and temporary accommodation and the issues affecting families
  • have knowledge and/or experience of working within an income setting
  • need the ability to identify problems and find solutions and be able to work on your own initiative.

Currently our organisation is working from home but in normal times you will be based at our modern, air-conditioned head office in Ipswich, with a range of facilities and excellent travel links. We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme.  We also offer a range of training and development and will give you all the support you need, for your career and wellbeing.

We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered.  Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
