We are currently looking for a Democratic Services Officer to join our Democratic Services Team. Your role will be to ensure that requirements for political decision-making processes are met at East Suffolk Council, in line with the council’s constitution and also support its 55 elected Councillors. You will have responsibility for assigned regular meetings, including preparing the associated agendas, reports, and minutes, as well as researching and providing advice on the interpretation and application of the council’s constitution.

Due to COVID-19, many of our formal council meetings have become virtual/partially virtual, with the requirement to webcast meetings (via YouTube and other platforms) to enable members/the public to access remotely. Therefore, excellent IT skills and an aptitude for learning IT systems will be essential, as you will be required to manage the technical requirements of online/hybrid council meetings.

You will also need experience in minuting meetings, preferably in a local government authority environment, excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and excellent attention to detail. Good organisation skills, mobility within the district and the ability to work some evenings as required will be essential.
