Are you looking to kick-start your career in local government? East Suffolk Council has an established and successful apprenticeship scheme, which has seen over 80% of its apprentices stay on beyond their apprenticeships to develop promising careers with the Council. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity where you can earn money as well as gaining experience and a recognised qualification, then this could be for you.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our Support Services team. This apprenticeship opportunity could be your first step on the career ladder in social housing or office admin.
The role consists of working as part of a highly skilled support team which sits within the Tenants Services division of the council. Your job will be to deliver exceptional customer service to our tenants and every day will bring a different challenge. One day you may be arranging a plumber for a blocked loo and the next you may be using a bespoke software package to scan and store documents electronically.
A liking for admin is essential as is attention to detail. You will also have the opportunity to gain experience from other teams within Tenants Services and will spend some time with housing and rent officers and may also get to visit some of our properties with the building inspectors. This helps build the bigger picture of how our housing stock is maintained and will open up new avenues for your future.
You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, a willingness to learn, an aptitude for ICT and a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grades 4 -9/Grade C and above, or (or equivalent) including English and Maths. No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided, however a passion to be a positive and professional ambassador for the council and a desire to provide the best experience for our tenants is a must.
So, what can we offer you in return?
- A fully funded and supported Level 2 Business Administration qualification
- Generous annual leave entitlements and high street discount scheme
- Valuable work based skills from day one
- The opportunity to meet and work alongside other apprentices in the organisation
- Multiple training courses and development opportunities to add to your CV.
