East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

As part of a Planning Service expansion to address growing demands, this role will lead on delivery of the council’s Rights of Way function for the creation, diversion and extinguishment of public rights of way. You will also act as the primary source of internal advice and assistance on issues relating to public rights of way on council land and, as part of a development team approach, provide advice on new development proposals/planning applications on private land.

To be successful in this role, you should be educated to degree level or equivalent, have up-to-date and thorough working knowledge of public rights of way legislation, precedents and best practice, as well as experience of the legal and practical processes involved in dealing with applications for Public Path Creation, Diversion and Extinguishment Orders and Agreements. As a career grade role, we would also welcome applications from those with limited knowledge and experience.
