East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a professional to take on this challenging role as part of the Ipswich and East Suffolk Building Control Partnership. Reporting to a Building Control Team leader, you will be an experienced Building Control professional, committed to delivering and improving the high-quality Building Control Service we pride ourselves on providing.

The position is based at our Lowestoft offices, but could include work across the partnership areas of Ipswich and East Suffolk. The Building Control team are fully equipped to work remotely which allows and encourages surveyors to work from home or any other desired location.

You will be responsible for the delivery of Building Regulation requirements and related services within a geographic area, but will be flexible enough to support other areas as required. Your role will also include administration of demolition and dangerous structure legislation, including out of hours emergency cover, as well as supporting corporate projects.

You should be a full member of the RICS, MCABE or CIOB with considerable experience working in a building control area with evidence of a high level of performance. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as being experienced in plan examination and site inspection relating to Building Regulation applications. A high level of customer care and the ability to develop new business opportunities will be essential in order to maintain our self-financing service.
