Suffolk County Council successfully won the contract to deliver the 0 - 19 Healthy Child Service for the whole of Suffolk, working across School Nursing, Health and Children's Centres and Family Nurse Partnership and the new Health Business Centre teams.
We are recruiting for Community Staff Nurses both in School Nursing, School Nursing Alternative Provision, Health and Children's Centres and the Health Business Centre teams.
This is an extremely exciting time for our School Nursing teams in Suffolk as we have invested heavily in our school nursing provision with additional frontline staffing capacity to enable the full delivery of the Healthy Child Programme. This additional resource will enable early identification of needs for those within and outside of a school setting and opportunities to work with children, young people and families to improve public health outcomes.
We will provide an enhanced offer to children and young people who are most vulnerable including those with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. Each senior school in the county will have a named health professional from the School Nursing Team. You will work with children and young people, both individually and in groups, to promote healthy lifestyles and improve their resilience.
SCC has a long reputation of training School Nurses and there will be opportunities for Community Staff Nurses to gain experience that could lead to accessing School Nurse training.
Health Visiting and Children’s Centre teams have been working successfully as one service since 2015. The Health and Children’s Centre Teams deliver the Healthy Child Programme alongside the Children’s Centre Framework to provide an outstanding quality service with excellent outcomes to families with children from the antenatal period to the age of 5 years.
The Health Business Centre team based in Ipswich is at the forefront for the delivery of a high-quality and responsive service to enable clients and stakeholders to receive advice and timely support via a single point of access. Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (Health Visiting or School Nursing) and Community Staff Nurses will support a clinically led duty and triage service responding to clinical communications into the service. A shift pattern enables coverage of the service from 8am - 7.30pm.
