Fixed term for 12 months. 

Suffolk is a beautiful county, rich in archaeological heritage. As part of the Growth, Highways and Infrastructure Directorate, the Archaeological Service is seeking to recruit an Archaeological Officer. 

You will be championing the county’s special qualities, and working to protect and promote the understanding and conservation of the archaeological heritage of Suffolk, by advising Local Planning Authorities on a caseload of development projects. You will have a background in fieldwork and post-excavation projects and an understanding of the planning process.

This post presents a unique opportunity for an experienced archaeologist to develop their expertise in providing advice to planning authorities and developers.

Your work will bring you into contact with a wide range of customers and organisations, including developers, archaeological contractors, parish councils and national statutory agencies. You will need to be a good communicator who can negotiate effectively and someone who is keen to share knowledge and forge strong working relationships, with the drive and enthusiasm to manage a busy workload.
