Suffolk Family Carers is an innovative and creative charity, recognised nationally as the overall GSK Impact Award winner 2019. We work in partnership with over 100 organisations to deliver a range of services that impact positively on the lives of adult, young adult and young carers.

Suffolk Young Carers supports young carers aged 5-15, and are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive and driven Young Carer Adviser who can enable young carers and their families to overcome some of the challenges they face in a creative and solution focused way.

Excellent relationship building skills are required to develop working relationships with education staff to raise awareness of the needs of young carers. You will support schools in implementing creative, sustainable best practise support for their young carers. In addition, you provide monthly respite clubs across the county and one off respite activities during school holidays. You will need to be motivated about enabling young people to develop their self-confidence and feel less isolated, working innovatively to ensure the support is engaging and age appropriate.

You will need to have excellent organisation and planning skills together with the ability to plan and lead respite and wellbeing activities for young people. You will be required to travel to locations across Suffolk and be available for early evening and occasional weekend working.

There is flexibility around working hours as well as an attractive pension scheme. Suffolk Family Carers is located on a rural business park, easily accessible from the A14 and 4 miles from Ipswich.

Interested? We would like to hear from you.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jess Searle, Young Carers Project Manager, by email at: jessica.searle@suffolkfamilycarers.org or telephone (01473) 835470.
