Suffolk Family Carers is a respected charity that is passionate about creating solutions to meet the needs of family carers of all ages. We provide a range of services to support adult, young adult and young carers across Suffolk.

We support young carers aged 5-15, and are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive and driven Young Carer Adviser who can enable young carers and their families to overcome some of the challenges they face in a creative and solution focused way.

Whilst this post will be based in our Claydon office, the post holder will predominantly be working with young people aged 9-15 in the Lowestoft and Coastal locality.

Excellent relationship building skills are required to develop working relationships with education staff to raise awareness of the needs of young carers. You will support schools in implementing creative, sustainable best practise support for their young carers. In addition, you provide monthly respite clubs across the county and one off respite activities during school holidays. You will need to be motivated about enabling young people to develop their self-confidence and feel less isolated, working innovatively to ensure the support is engaging and age appropriate.

You will need to have excellent organisation and planning skills together with the ability to plan and lead respite and wellbeing activities for young people. You will be required to travel to locations across Suffolk and be available for early evening and occasional weekend working.

There is flexibility around working hours as well as attractive employee benefits. Suffolk Family Carers is located on a rural business park, easily accessible from the A14 and 4 miles from Ipswich.

*Actual: £11,231.
