An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Suffolk County Council (SCC) Recruitment, Assessment & Matching Team as an Experienced Social Worker, working from Endeavour House, Ipswich.

Are you empowered by being a part of a team, recruiting and assessing potential Foster Carers and Adopters to ensure Suffolk's Looked after Children are supported to reach their full potential.

Your responsibilities

  • supporting the recruitment & assessment of potential Foster Carers and prospective Adoptions
  • undertaking Fostering Form F assessments - Support & training will be provided
  • support and assess prospective adopters from enquiry through to the end of stage 1
  • co deliver Skills to Foster Training and Adoption Information Evenings.

You will need

A relevant social work qualification and Social Work England registration is essential.

The team

  • a county wide service to recruit, assess and approve Foster Carers
  • a county wide service to recruit and support through stage 1 prospective Adopters
  • support the matching of Foster Carers with long term Foster placements
  • the team is supportive and is keen to review and update best practices to ensure we can support those we work with to support the needs of children
  • is a busy, friendly and highly supportive team with lots of creative ideas and a shared passion in approving Foster carers to support our children in care.

Travelling requirements for your role

This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role, you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.
