We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative teacher to join our fantastic teaching team. An ability to teach Upper KS2 is essential. Experienced teachers are welcome to apply, as the role will involve being part of the team leading and developing our school’s curriculum. The school was judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted (June 2019).

 We are:

  • a small village school with high standards
  • friendly and supportive
  • forward thinking and innovative.

You will:

  • view each child as an individual
  • have high expectations of children’s achievements and their behaviour
  • be positive and creative
  • be a good team member.

The school benefits from a supportive Governing Body and Parents Association (Friends). Our classrooms are well-resourced with good IT facilities.

Candidates should be in sympathy with the Christian ethos of the school.

We are a small rural village primary school serving the parishes of Barningham, Coney Weston and Knettishall, although a number of our children do come from out of catchment. The school has a Voluntary Controlled Status under the diocese of St Edmundsbury.

The buildings date from 1859, with more modern additions, and are set in attractive fenced grounds with two playgrounds, grassed areas and gardens. We have a good-sized hall, four classrooms, a small library area and our own school kitchen providing hot meals at lunch time. The school is next to a playing field which we use for PE and after school clubs.

We currently have 95 children on roll as of March 2021. The school caters for children from Foundation Stage to Year 6 (aged 4-11). We have a Reception Class, a KS1 Class (Year 1 & 2), a Lower KS2 Class (Year 3 & 4) and an Upper KS2 Class (Year 5 & 6). Each class has their own class teacher as well as support from Teaching Assistants.

Informal online Zoom meetings or conversations are recommended prior to applying. Please contact Stephany Hunter (Headteacher) or Dawn Pipe (Office Manager) at the school to make arrangements on (01359) 221297.
