Required from 1 January 2021, or as soon as possible.

We are seeking an exceptional Teacher of A-Level Economics and / or Business to join our team. In recognition, we are pleased to offer a competitive salary, which acknowledges your skills and experience, with excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Ranked 1st in Government Student Progress Tables across Suffolk and Norfolk (2016), and awarded BTEC College of the Year (2018), ONE is the only ‘Outstanding’ sixth form college in Suffolk. With a fresh approach to learning, we integrate a contemporary, inspirational working environment with first-class teaching, resources and student support.

Celebrating our inclusive and progressive ethos, staff report exceptionally high levels of satisfaction from working at ONE, and seek to make a real difference to the aspirations and achievements of our young people. Well-motivated, students express their enjoyment of lessons, and appreciate the open culture they experience.

With a focus on wellbeing, the college maintains rigorous measures against the threat of COVID-19 and, with state-of-the-art IT facilities, is well placed to support remote teaching and learning activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a well-qualified and inspirational teacher of Economics and Business to become an integral member of our enthusiastic and supportive Business, Accounting and Economics team. With a focus on success, you should demonstrate a commitment to outstanding teaching and learning practices, to support the achievement, progression and well-being of our students.

The curriculum at ONE currently offers A-Level Economics (EdExcel), Business (EdExcel) and Accounting (AQA); alongside Level 2 and 3 Extended Diplomas in Business (Pearson). Although this role would most suit a specialist in Economics, ONE also offers teaching staff the opportunity to teach across a number of subject areas, if preferred, within a collaborative and supportive team.

With a comprehensive range of industry links, students enjoy direct leadership, mentoring and progression opportunities from nationally- and internationally-recognised Business organisations, including the Institute of Directors. Always seeking to add to this portfolio, we welcome applicants with industry experience, or with a commitment to expanding students’ horizons through direct industry engagement.

We are seeking to appoint a positive, personable and highly motivated teacher with the following characteristics:

  • a passion for their chosen subject area
  • up-to-date subject knowledge of A-Level Economics (primarily) and / or A-Level Business
  • a willingness to work collaboratively, where ideas and teaching strategies are freely shared within a high-performing team
  • a commitment to outstanding teaching and learning practices, with a desire for continual professional development
  • experience of, or enthusiasm for working with 16 – 19 year old students.

As staff surveys reveal near-100% satisfaction with the vast majority of working practices at ONE, we pride ourselves on the support offered to all, including those who are new to teaching.

With a range of on-going staff development opportunities, all staff at ONE enjoy a comprehensive CPD programme, including the chance to conduct and implement educational research. Embedded in this, staff have access to a highly enjoyable well-being programme, with access to sports facilities, and a varied number of health and recreation opportunities.

NQTs will be further supported with dedicated teaching remission; a highly-qualified teaching Mentor; and added support from the Director of Curriculum and other senior staff. When appropriate, we also support staff in achieving QTS or QTLS.

Staff feel supported by the measures that have been put in place to minimise the risk of transmission from COVID-19, with many activities (including CPD) now being conducted online.

If you are interested in this exciting opportunity to join our team, please see the application pack in the related information section. Alternatively, please contact Claire Kerridge, Assistant HR Manager, at: hr@suffolkone.ac.uk for an application pack.

The closing date for postal applications is 9am, 23 September 2020. Interviews are expected to be held shortly after.

One is committed to Safeguarding. We aim to create the safest environment within which every student has the opportunity to achieve and progress.
